ALL CENTER MEETING
An All Center meeting was held on Thursday, September 15. A lot of discussion at the meeting centered around the change in the organizational structure of the hotline. We are now working with a team system. This means that hotline and hospital emergency coverage are handled by teams of people who work together to arrange scheduling for their particular shift. Each "team" has elected a Shift Coordinator to be responsible for communicating with all the rest of the persons working the same shift. In the new system, three people will be scheduled to work each evening: one hospital advocate, one hotline advocate, and one call-forwarding person. These positions can then be rotated among the members of the "team",

THE NEXT ALL CENTER MEETING WILL BE ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 17, AT 7:30 P.M. At the next meeting three volunteers will be elected to serve on the Board of Trustees. Three present representatives have served their one-year terms.

SHIFT COORDINATORS
On August 17, the C.R.C.C. held a meeting for the Shift Coordinators. A Shift Coordinator is the person responsible for scheduling and communication among advocates for each time segment. The Coordinators are:

Some of the responsibilities of the Shift Coordinators are: 1. Providing feedback of advocates (Prob. lems or excellence) 2. Assisting with the training and screening of new persons 3. Scheduling:
A. Scheduling 3 people per night to cover the hotline from 6 p.m. to midnight and an emergency advocate to be on call.
B. Floating call-forwarding so that call-forwarding people come into the Center occasionally.
C. Rotating people between hotline and emergency advocacy so that everyone comes in 2 times a month or more.
D. Keeping schedules posted a month in advance on the calendar in the hotline room.
E. Communicating with people who aren't showIng up to see if we can work out the problem.
F. Letting paid staff know who is available to work holidays.
G. Keeping in touch with people on leaves of absence.
H. Finding out if there are people willing to work on a weekend as an Emergency Advocate.
I. Keeping the phones without using paid staff. J. Training new people --Always in pairs. K. Men can help out with Hotline and Emergency Advocacy but should avoid being alone.
L. Encourage completion of Assault Description Sheets.
N. Be the contact people for a telephone tree for that time when we need to contact people on an emergency basis.
O. To relay new information or procedures and to promote people working as a team.
THE REASON FOR RAPE
As an ardent science-fiction fan for over twenty years, I have read many stories in which someone (usually a man) talks into a machine and it types automatically. Trouble is, some people think we have that situation already. Everyone who doesn't have to type wants to pretend that no real actual human being has to do such boring repetitive work.
The typist is dehumanized. Typing, like garbage collecting, washing dishes, cleaning public toilets, housework, and so forth is, bluntly, shit-work. We wish we had robots to do the work, so we think of workers as robots. In other ages they (we) have been called serfs, slaves, things. Those who have to do shit-work are not really human. They are property, like machines. Therefore, anything can be done to the robots (serfs, slaves) that the owners want. We do not really belong to ourselves..
We must use our bodies as incubators for the seed of any man who happens to impregnate us (unless we can trade other property (money) for the dim privilege of pretending that we are not enslaved). We must be servile if we are black or female or any person of color because that is a convenient way of categorizing robots into work groups. That leaves a privileged class of white males for less boring work, which helps divide the workers,
Keep the slaves divided. Force them to live and raise children in very small groups isolated from each other by distance, language and cultural barriers. This denies most children the early peer socialization which might teach them to cooperate with their equals. Instead, supervise them in rigid authoritarian situations. Teach them competition.
Severely punish anyone who does not conform. Robots are easier to manage if they are identical. And we replicate automatically. That is what our sex organs are for. So we must use them for reproduction only. Pleasure is not good for slaves. It frees them to think of a better life. Makes them feel good about themselves and less like machines.
Keep the slaves divided. The easiest distinction to make is between the sexes. Tell the larger one he is better. Tell him he has a right to take a female anytime he wants. Let him pretend he has ownership and power. Then he can close his eyes to his own vulnerability. Let him rape, let him feel master of the "real" slave, the woman who is pussy, incubator, shit-worker.
